I was sitting, alone in the night
Shielding myself from the whispers of life
When I felt a hand on my shoulder
Soft and caressing
I didn't look right away
I had been waiting for a long time
I felt her fateful presence
By my side
I looked upon her, and there she was
Her eyes on me in surreal silence
A dim glow of light about her
Pale and beautiful
There was no light in her eyes
But a warm feeling engulfed me
I recognized her as my only escape
The Lady of Death
"It's time to go" she said to me
Her voice was light, almost happy
There suddenly was no fear in my heart
Only relief and gratitude
"Where am I going" I asked her
"Nowhere" she answered with sadness
"There is nothing after the gate
Only the void."
I looked upon humanity
Mine, and those around me
And I saw hate, and I saw war
I saw laughter and ignorance
I gazed upon my shameful race
And I was glad to go away
I had my lot of witnessing
And accepting, and suffering
"Take me with you" I said at last
She bowed slowly over me
Pressing her cold lips over mine
Gently and lovingly
There was just a rush of air
A passing feeling of anguish
The world as it had ever been
And me no more
At the end of the year I usually make an album of the year list.
In 2023 I made an expection and included demos, solely because of this masterpiece.
This is ice cold, raw, beautiful black metal of the highest order, with great atmosphere and some amazing guitar melodies throughout. I absolutely adore it. sardonicwrath
